This 4-inch I.D. model is ideal for off-site burial of gold, silver,
or other valuables that don't take up much room. If you keep your gold
in a bank safety deposit box, it can be confiscated by the government
just like Franklin D. Roosevelt did in 1933. (Actually it was a forced
"turn-in" with nominal compensation and criminal penalties for
noncompliance.) If you store much gold in your home safe, you may come
home someday to find the entire safe gone, floor bolts and all, and
your financial protection will be wiped out. Think about how multi-ton
logs are hauled out of the woods. A stong cable wrapped around your
safe and pulled by a heavy winch can yank it right through the walls,
leaving a gaping hole in your house. When times get desperate, thieves
get bold.
The
first use of this size BURY 'EM! tube was for burying gold and silver
off site as a precaution against theft or confiscation in case
Americans were once more forbidden to own gold. Only the most
sheep-like Americans would comply with such an outrage. Having your
treasure out of government's reach is the safe way to protect it as we
enter uncertain times.
The 4S model BURY 'EM!
tube is also suitable for establishing a chain of small survival caches
laid out every 20 miles or so along a predetermined escape route in
case you have to flee your home on foot and head for the safety of the
high country. These tubes can hold a couple days' protein/energy bar
supply along with some cash, first aid materials, fresh socks, LED
flashlight, or a bottle of water. Or you can bury two next to each
other. Even three of these tubes would be less expensive than any of
our 6-inch diameter models, so if you are burying small items, this is
your best option.
The
BE-4S tube has an interior 11.5" x 4" and can hold 2.5 quarts of fluid or a small off-site survival
cache you can access if your home position is compromised. It has a shipping weight of 5 lbs. This one
held folding money, silver coins, two calibers of ammunition, ready-to
eat energy food, toilet tissue, pain and caffeine tablets, large
Band-aids, Neosporin packets, a Bic lighter, 100% DEET spray repellent,
a lightweight rain poncho, waterproof tube of waterproof
strike-anywhere matches, fire-starter sticks, an LED cap light, a
folding knife, and a toothbrush.
We
found that a cardboard tube of raisins will fit neatly into this tube
model if the plastic cap is removed. Raisins are a good energy food.
What else could you keep safely buried for a time when it will be
needed?

BURY 'EM! 4S tube kit includes:
1 pressure-tested 4-inch diameter PVC tube
1 4-inch exandable plug to seal opening
1 7.0-mil Mylar bag 10" x 18"
3 cloth drawstring bags 6" x 10"
1 sealed bag Hot-Hands O2 absorber
(Open only at last moment.)
1 alcohol cleaning pad
1 instruction sheet
Tools needed
non-stick-surfaced clothes iron
broomstick or thick dowel
pliers
scissors
vacuum cleaner
plastic 5-gallon bucket
tarps or sheets of heavy-gauge plastic
shovel, hatchet for roots, other digging tools
A
heavy-duty, highly impermeable 10" x 20" Mylar bag is provided for a
heat-sealable tube liner. The width is considerably more than needed
so you will need to curl it lengthwise into a C shape, then open it
from the middle of the C so it doubles back on itself.
You can see how the too-wide bag, once opened, doubles back on itself inside the BURY 'EM! tube.
When
you have it fully loaded, including the O2 absorbers (one or two
packets will be plenty) you will have to flatten out the open end of
the bag in order to seal it shut with your clothes iron. The best way
to do this is to pull the loaded bag partway out of the tube, suck the
air out of it with your vacuum cleaner, and heat-seal it as close to
the contents as you can. Then you can stuff it back into the tube.
Once
the Mylar bag has been heat-sealed with O2 packets inside, insert the
expandable plug and tighten by hand. Unless you have very strong, tough
hands you should tighten it further with a wrench or a pair of pliers.
Beware of overtightening though since the reinforced plastic plug parts
could crack.
Oxygen absorbers would certainly
not be necessary for burying gold coins, and most people do not keep
non-collector-grade silver away from oxygen. We have included the
absorbers in case you wish to include anything that might oxidize or
possibly contain tiny insect pests. We have not found a source for
pouches of just a few packets each so we buy the least expensive
pouches we can find, realizing that only a few are needed. If you have
room in the tube, there is no harm in emptying the entire pouch into
it.
When it comes time to bury your BE-4S tube you should follow the same general procedures and precautions recommended for our larger models.
The
BE-4S model is a snap to bury secretly because of its size. You may
not even need a shovel if you have soft earth. Here you see a folded
square of polyethylene plastic sheeting, a very simple day pack, a
military folding foxhole shovel, a pair of gloves, and the loaded
tube. You can carry an empty plastic bucket to load with excavated
earth.
If you encounter anyone on the way to the burial site,
they may glance at your empty bucket but will most likely ignore your
day pack containing the tube and digging materials.
