BURY 'EM! model 6M
Interior dimensions 19" x 6" ,
Volume 2.2 gallons
Shipping wt. 14 lbs.
For
anyone intent on burying short items that are too wide for our 4-inch
inside-diameter BURY 'EM! tubes, the BE-6M model may be your best
choice. They can be heavy when fully loaded but not so heavy that you
can't carry one inside a knapsack to its burial site. They also require
less digging to bury.
BURY 'EM!-6M kit contains:
1 pressure-tested 6-inch diameter PVC tube
1 expansion plug to seal opening
2 olive drab military Mylar bags 12" x 30"
1 knit fabric sleeve, 7” x 48"
(makes two sleeves joined at bottom)
6 cloth drawstring bags 6" x 10"
1 sealed hand-warmer packets for O2 absorbtion
(Open only at last moment.)
1 alcohol cleaning pad
1 instruction sheet
Tools needed:
non-stick-surfaced clothes iron
broomstick or thick dowel
pliers or wrench
scissors
vacuum cleaner
plastic 5-gallon buckets
tarps or sheets of heavy-gauge plastic
gloves, shovel, hatchet for roots, other digging tools
The
BE-6M model uses an expanding neoprene rubber plug, tightened by means
of a wing nut. All original metal parts were replaced with stainless
steel for long-term underground exposure.
A
tight-fitting fabric-reinforced neoprene washer covered with a
stainless steel washer was added under the wing nut and the bolt
threads were coated liberally with wax sealant to keep moisture out of
the plug. The inner seal of fully expanded gasquet and neoprene washer
under the carriage bolt head are the primary barrier to moisture
intrusion.
Open end of tube is reinforced to double thickness to avoid any possibility of stress cracking from tightening expansion plug.
During
turbulent economic and political times it makes good sense to keep
caches of important items in hidden locations away from your home.
Properly used, your BURY ‘EM! tube can boost your chances of accessing
a backup supply of essential emergency items in case your home position
is compromised.
Your BURY ‘EM! tube can hold a one or two-week
emergency food supply (dry, condensed), or shelter and clothing items,
valuables, first aid materials, a light mummy bag and small tent, a
variety of emergency and survival tools and equipment, or a BB pistol
and scads of ammunition. (Firearm burial is not recommended for public
safety reasons.)
Another use: Suppose the economic collapse
progresses into a lawless Mad Max world with major supply
interruptions. There are things many people will crave to such an
extent they can be bribed with them. Consider burying vodka, whiskey,
cigarettes, etc. as bribery/barter items. (Save the good whiskey for
bribing VIP's.) Be sure to use the provided oxygen absorbers if you
bury cigarettes.
Despite
the multiple layers of protection afforded in your BURY ‘EM! tube kit,
you should select non-perishable emergency items that are corrosion
proof or as corrosion resistant as possible, composed of plastics,
ceramics, and/or stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant metals.
Make sure any large items will fit into the tube with room to spare so
cloth bags full of smaller accessory items can be added. Any items with
hard or sharp projections should be thoroughly wrapped with fabric
(E.G. rags) or other tough padding material to avoid damage to Mylar
tube liner.

Freshly opened hand-warmer packets
are placed in loaded Mylar tube liner just
before sucking the air out and heat-sealing
the bag. They begin absorbing oxygen immediately so you have to use them right away once opened.
We
searched far and wide for individually wrapped O2 absorbers to save on
cost and finally realized that hand warmers are in fact O2 absorbers.
They produce heat by rapidly oxidizing iron powder, using up oxygen in
the process. They are also seasonally available at your local hardware
store so you don't need to re-order from us for repeat use of your BURY
'EM! tube.
Loaded BURY ‘EM! 6M tube, folding GI shovel, gloves, and plastic tarps ready to be placed inside this backpack.
